Donut County

Nintendo Switch

Played for 2 hours (as of Jan 12, 2025)

My daughter and I had previously enjoyed playing Hole io, a game where you drive a hole around the ground, increasing in size as you let objects fall through, until you’re swallowing whole buildings.

Donut County is like that, but with a story and self-contained levels. It’s cute, and the art is nice, but I kind of missed the chaos. As soon as you get going, the level is over and you have to read a bunch of dialogue. The animal characters are annoyed at the raccoon protagonist who deployed the holes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just want to swallow buildings.

This game was cute and fun for what it was, but I’m glad I only paid a couple bucks for it.
