Hollow Knight: Silksong

Nintendo Switch

Played for 15+ hours (as of Oct 20, 2025)

I am fifteen hours into Silksong and I need a break. I’m bouncing off it for different reasons than I did OG Hollow Knight, primarily the difficulty of some of the boss fights, which are annoyingly frequent. Right now I’m stuck on Sister Splinter, who is blocking me from getting the Cling Grip ability, which is blocking me from exploring other areas. Like other bosses, I have tried and failed many times, making slow progress, but I’ve reached my limit for now and will just have to let her live rent-free in my head for the time being.

Silksong is a beautiful game. I’m glad I wasn’t waiting as long as some people for it, because it is also pretty frustrating. Difficulty is subjective, of course, so I am not going to say it’s too difficult. But it’s too difficult for me, right now, to continue, and that’s OK. I’ll be back. In the meantime, I’m going to try to play some narrative-driven games from my backlog that I can finish in a week or less.
