After listening to the The Adventure Zone‘s epic 80+ hour Balance campaign, I was eager to revisit those characters and stories without the massive time commitment. The graphic novel adaptations, starting with this one, are perfect: They capture the fun and humor of the podcast, including periodic nods to the D&D-ness of it all — like featuring Griffin, the DM, and referencing spell slots, hit points, and leveling up. But instead of taking a week or more of hour-plus listening sessions, I can finish one of these graphic novels in a couple hours and feel like I got a pretty faithful re-hashing of the story. Like I said: perfect.
