My name is Patrick Burke. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

I am a child of the 1980s and grew up here in southwestern Pennsylvania. My family got a computer and the internet earlier than most, and I have been making websites ever since. In college I started out studying computer science, then switched to English literature, creative nonfiction writing, and classics (Greek and Latin). I met my wife there. After graduation we moved to Vermont for four years, then Iowa for three, and now we’re back in Pennsylvania again, hopefully for good.

My interests are broad. I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy, particularly space opera, cyberpunk, and post-apocalyptic fiction. I love talky, philosophical movies like Before Sunrise, My Dinner with Andre, and Waking Life. My favorite filmmakers are Richard Linklater and the Coen Brothers. My favorite TV shows are Firefly and Freaks & Geeks. I like all sorts of music at different times: trance when I’m coding, Nina Simone when I’m making breakfast, baroque on lazy Sunday mornings. I skateboard and brew beer for fun. I prefer walking to any other mode of transportation.
