Railbound is a lovely puzzle game with a charming art style and calming music. The objective is pretty simple: you position railroad tracks on a grid to ensure the train cars get to the engine when you press play. You are constrained by the number of pieces you have, the size of the grid, and immovable pre-placed tracks. Later, there are additional problems to solve: multiple train cars that need to arrive in order, cars that need to pick up a passenger before reaching the engine, cars going to different engines, and switches that divert cars or open gates. It starts so simple buy there are levels that had me stumped for half an hour or more — sometimes needing to put the game down and come back with fresh eyes.
I think I paid $3 for this game, and it was such a bargain for how much enjoyment I got out. I loved it — except for that last level that I just couldn’t figure out after several days, and had to look up the solution for. Oh well!
